The Commonwealth Department of Health has recently opened an online stakeholder engagement process, inviting submissions from any organisation that would like to share case studies of initiatives that align with the health-related SDGs, including SDG3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
We encourage you to use this platform to share your good news stories as well as challenges, lessons learnt and future opportunity in regards to the 2030 Agenda:
Submissions must be provided by January 19th, 2018.
What information are we looking for?
The Department is interested in case studies or planned initiatives that align with the health-related Sustainable Development Goals and promote health and wellbeing, in particular, the targets under Sustainable Development Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. A suitable case study will preferably demonstrate one or more of the following:
- Cross-sectoral collaboration.
- Operate across multiple layers of the health system or multiple levels of government.
- Serve high risk groups that ‘leave no one behind’. Those whose needs are reflected in the 2030 Agenda include all children, youth, persons with disabilities (of whom more than 80 per cent live in poverty), people living with HIV/AIDS, older persons, indigenous peoples, refugees and internally displaced persons and migrants (see paragraph 23, United Nations General Assembly resolution A/RES/70/1, Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development).
- Address multiple SDG goals or targets.
Who is best placed to respond?
The 2030 Agenda is an Agenda for all and responses are welcome from Australian organisations from all sectors and jurisdictions – government, (local, state and federal), civil society, private sector and academia.
How will this information be used?
Collectively, the information captured through this process will provide a snapshot of Australia’s progress on the health-related Sustainable Development Goals. The case studies provided will inform the health related aspects of Australia’s VNR and may be published online through the Department of Health website. Please note, a sample of case studies may be presented in detail as part of the VNR.
For further information on the 2030 Agenda, please visit the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade website.
Should you have any queries or would like further information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Many thanks in advance for engaging with this process.
