On Sunday, the Australian Government announced it had accepted a package of 40 recommendations from the MBS Review Taskforce – 38 in full and two in part.
Included in this announcement are recommendations related to the following clinical committees:
- Dermatology, allergy and immunology
- Diagnostic Imaging – knee imaging
- Renal medicine
- Thoracic medicine
- Spinal surgery
As part of this package, the Government has also announced changes to capsule endoscopy and 3D breast tomosynthesis. These changes were considered with the advice of the Taskforce.
The Government has also announced restrictions on the use of urogynaecological mesh, in line with advice from the Taskforce.
